The team

The Kamilaroi vaulting team began in 1993 with 7 girls under the guidance of coach and founder Karen Foran. The horse they started with, Kamilaroi Monarch IV was loaned to the group through the generosity of the Park family of Kamilaroi Percheron Stud in Jackson, Queensland. 

Kamilaroi Cadet was next to join the team and looked after the team for many years, he retired a few years ago. It is a very carefully planned and managed process to teach the horse to accept the vaulters and for the vaulters to learn the skills and to trust the horse. 

Our current team has 8 members - Pill, Emily, Sam, Becky, Charlie, Sophie, Sonia and Tesse- and some of them are quite new to the sport. We are all very keen to learn new skills and moves and we train very hard on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, getting all the help we can from our coach Karen as well as some of the former team members. The three team horses - Kamilaroi Zone, Yorkshire and Smithy love their work with the girls and we see them as an important part of the team. Our training and performances would not be possible without the help of our team lungers Karen and Karrie (and trainee Andy), who are all doing a magnificent job.
